How to Get Rid of Dandruff: 5 Useful Tips To Consider

Think of any common scalp condition and the first thing that comes to your mind would always be – Dandruff. These tiny, little white flakes on the scalp are the flakes of dead skin, which are at times itchy. According to the Journal of Clinical and Investigative Dermatology, “Dandruff typically starts around puberty and starts to subside around the age of 50.”

If we look at dandruff from the medical point of view, the doctors and scientists studying on this topic conclude saying that: dandruff is caused by the fungal infection.

But, looking at a broader view, the other common causes of dandruff include:

30-40 Neem Leaves

750-1000 ml of water

  • Boil water and take it off the heat. In this hot water add leaves and allow it to rest overnight. The next morning, strain the liquid and rinse your hair with this neem infused water.

How to use it:

Apply curd on your scalp and give your hair a gentle massage. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes and then rinse it off.

3. Baking Soda:

Baking soda soaks the excess oil from your scalp and helps in removing the dead skin.

How to use it:

All you need to do is, wet your hair and rub a tablespoon of baking soda on your scalp and hair. Leave it for a minute, not more than that and then rinse your hair, thoroughly. After getting done with this procedure, you can rinse your hair with the mild shampoo.

 4. Apple cider vinegar for itchiness:

Apple cider vinegar destroys the fungus that causes dandruff and provides relief from itchiness.

How to use it:

  • In a bowl, mix water and vinegar in equal portions. Use this mixture as a replacement for shampoo.
  • You can also combine the vinegar with a small portion of mild shampoo or combine it with essential oil.
5. Aspirin:

Aspirin contains salicylates, which helps in getting rid of scaly skin and flakes.

How to use it:

Make a fine powder of 2 aspirin tablets by placing it under a clean napkin. Mix this powder with a little amount of shampoo. Rinse your hair with this mixture, and use exactly the way you use your shampoo.

Bottom Line:

Dandruff is a controllable disorder and not a disease to have cure. It’s natural existence cannot be completely eliminated; it’s the high and chronic levels of dandruff that needs attention.
